spice peranakan

spice peranakan
at their new premises

if you are driving there, it might be a little tricky if you are not familiar with the west.
  • after ministry of education --> turn left
  • go straight --> keep left and go up the slope
  • look out for carpark A which is on your right
  • turn into carpark A --> go down to B3 of centros building
  • park at yellow sector
  • take the lift to level 1 --> walk out of the glass door and turn right

the ambience is great for corporate lunches or evening family gatherings

beef rendung

chap cai

sambal sotong

cin jia lok fried egg

kueh kueh - complimentary from the manager dino
as we were too full to have anything else he thought we could try their
mini size kueh kueh as dessert. how thoughtful of him.

ever since the TCS drama series "little nonya" everyone seems to be more aware of peranakan culture and food. no exception for us either.
food, ambience and service of the manager were excellent.
imo: v good

keng kei foods enterprise)
231 east coast road (opposite jago close)
tel: 9751 4828
last saturday, we joined the ieatishootipost's forum's "durian degustation" session here. it was an enjoyable night making new friends and eating good durians. paid $20/- and we got to taste about 6 different types of durians. to name a few : black pearl, red prawn, hu lu, D13, etc. the highlight of the night was 猫山王.
how do you tell the real King from the fake one?
look for the Star at the bottom of the fruit and you will find the real King
(the brownish portion shapes like a star)

猫山王
imo: good
